A reminder that all doors need to be closed and locked at the end of the day. Especially 206-O, the room that has been pilfered from recently. It has been found open on some mornings and to help us understand what's going on we'd like to be sure that it was properly closed the night before.
Also, at the end of the day please remember to discharge ALL practice room barcodes. This should be done even if the card has not been brought back. The card will eventually be returned, maybe, but the resulting late fee is a hassle that we'd all prefer not to deal with unnecessarily.
I always make a point to check that 206-O is locked, and did so last night. Was it open this morning? I wonder if maintenance goes in there? They would have to get the key from the desk drawer. I remember when money was disappearing from the lab desk drawer...Eaton started keeping the money in a drawer in his desk, and it was taken from there, also. Then he bought a little strong box, and they took the key from his desk, opened the strong box and took the money, locked the box and returned the key. Is it possible that the pilfering is maintenance related? I remember recently some other offices on campus had computers stolen at night. I'm thinking that I may start checking 206-O every time the key is returned...I find it unlocked every now and then. I've also gone to lock 216-F, and found the door ajar on more than one occasion.
ReplyDeleteAs taught by Eaton,I always discharge all the practice rooms twice at the end of the night.
