I got THIS CLOSE again, to getting a proper pay-for-printing solution in the music lab and was stopped at the 11th hour with return to talk of a "Campus-wide solution". My frustrated email reply to that message earned us, squeaky-wheel-style, a new printer at the Lab supervisor's desk with the directive to allow students to print to it on request, at no cost, until there is a solution in place.
I have set up iMacs 1-12 to print and will finish up the others on Thursday.
Printing is as simple as selecting print and printing to the printer called "Music Lab Printer - By Permission".
The following guidelines will apply.
- "By Permission" means that the students should ask first. Any unexpected printings should be treated with disdain and ridicule.... and possibly, depending on the student and the printed material, permissiveness... at your discretion.
- Prints should be music class related
- Maximum of 10 prints, anything more than that should be printed elsewhere
- These prints are currently free, but we should expect pay-to-print sometime soon.
I'll work on an information sheet that can be placed at the desk for anyone who asks about printing.
I'll update this message when all of the computers are set up for printing.
