We need to be vigilant about a
former PCC student, Marcel Nolen. He dropped out of all of his classes this semester. I think that he was using V216G on Thursday, 5/22 around 5pm (based on the description-Tall African American with short Latina girlfriend). He obviously didn't check out the room and also had a coffee drink on the piano which was cleaned up by the student who had checked out the room. This student has a track record of violating the rules of the music lab over a period of 2 years. He goes in the room with his girlfriend because he knows that the 216 rooms are often left unsupervised. It was reported to me last year that he was using the room to have sex with his girlfriend. One time, I found him in the room, I think, right after such usage. Uncertain about what was going on, I kicked him out and told him he was not to use the facilities again. Later, upon finding out that he was in there again, after I kicked him out, I turned in a PCC misconduct file on him.
We need to keep better supervision of the V216 practice rooms. All lab instructors should be checking that area at least once every hour. If you find Marcel (with or without his girlfriend) in the room, Jim wants us to call campus police. I need to be informed about it so that I can turn in another misconduct form. This guy is really playing us!
We have signs on every practice room that mentions we may ask to see their ID and/or room card at any time to verify that they are not taking advantage of this situation.
We could keep 216 main door locked. Then the student worker could walk down with each student to unlock. ??
ReplyDeleteOr maybe lock 216G after 4 p.m., after which "the student worker could walk down with each student to unlock." 216G is hidden away, and poses a security risk.
ReplyDeleteI would like to lock that whole room down after 5pm.
ReplyDeleteIt always poses a problem as the night gets later.
Maybe each room could have a lockable knob, then students would have to check out the key to the individual room, sorta like the drum room.
